In an effort to block the new health care overhaul law, seven states will join the lawsuit originally filed by Florida; an additional 12 states jumped on board in late March. Why? Filed in the U.S. District Court in Florida, the suit contends that Congress lacks the constitutional authority to let individuals partake in an insurance plan and infringes on the states’ rights by requiring its residents to extend health coverage to more low-income residents without fully funding the additional cost.
